This Holiday Season, Think: Easy for Me and Easy for You! 10 Mindfulness Tips for a Happy Holiday Season

If, as the holiday season approaches, you feel waves of anxiety and depression and wish it were over before it’s begun, perhaps it’s time for a re-think.

Re-thinking your relationship to the holiday season creates an opportunity to design a happier, healthier, holiday experience – one that is based on your values, rather than on old-time, ragged habits of how it should be based on times past and someone else’s expectations.

If you are experiencing waves of anxiety, depression and wishing it were all over, who else in your circle of family and friends may be feeling the same? This year, make it easy for you and easy for them!

It takes courage and a little bit of time to envision alternative scenarios and engage others involved in designing holiday celebrations that are more compelling for everyone involved. The new co-created vision for a compelling holiday season will inspire action and empower everyone involved to play their part in the best way they know how…that is, IF they have bought into it.

In any change, there will always be the early and late adaptors – those that shift quickly to embracing a new thing or approach and those attached to the old ways of doing and being. The important thing is for you to “stick to your guns – be firm and follow through on the action commitments you make.

So, if you could clear the slate for a moment and envision the ideal – what would it look like, feel like, sound and taste like? Who would be involved and how?

What, in the holiday season, is important for you? What values are reflected in your vision?

Whatever your vision, I wish you the very best at bringing it alive. What follows are some tips to help you stay grounded, centered and focused on what matters to you in this holiday season and into the new year.
